CONSTRUCTION BOARD OF APPEALS

Holly Township has elected to enforce the State of Michigan Construction Code, which requires the township to create a Construction Board of Appeals which shall consist of at least three members, but not more than seven members.

Holly Township has appointed three members and each member holds a five-year term and meets when requested and paid for by an applicant requesting a variance from the State Code.

The board hears any appeals arising from the township’s enforcement of the building code and may grant variances from the construction code, which if strictly applied, would result in an exceptional practical difficulty to the applicant.

The board may also attach conditions to any variance granted that it believes necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Any decision of the Construction Board of Appeals may be appealed to the State Construction Code Commission within five days after the decision of the Holly Township Construction Board of Appeals decision was filed.

If you would like more information on The Construction Board of Review you may contact the building department at 248-634-9331 Ext. 301 or email here.
